What is SSD Memory on Laptops for

solid-state drive (SSD)  |
What is SSD? A solid-state drive (SSD) (also known as a solid-state disk or electronic disk, though it covers no actual "disk" of any kind, nor motors to "drive" the disks). It is essentially a data storage device using integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) hard disk drives.   Present-day SSD's are generally 2.5" sata drives, and it can be connected just like any conventional hard drive.
