iPhone Losing Battle Against Google Android: Samsung & HTC Leads the Market

A report by an independent technology focused analyst house Catalys, has claimed that Apple's iPhone is losing market space to other smart phone manufacturers.   According to a report by Mashable, the shipment of notebooks, tablets and smartphones reached 308.7 million in the first quarter of 2013 which is 37 percent more than last year's figure for same quarter.   At present, Google's Android is dominating the mobile market by making up for 60 percent of shipments. Apple holds only 19 percent of this market.  


Samsung Announces 5G Data Breakthrough | Users Can Download Movie In Just Seconds

Samsung Electronics said today it had successfully tested super-fast fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology that would eventually allow users to download an entire movie in one second.   The South Korean giant said the test had witnessed data transmission of more than one gigabyte per second over a distance of two kilometres.   The new technology, which will not be ready for the commercial market before 2020 at the earliest, would offer transmitting speeds "up to several hundred times faster" than existing 4G networks, it said in a statement.


Nokia Launches India-Made Touch Screen Phone For USD 99 (Rs.5000)

New Delhi, May 9 (PTI) Finnish phone maker Nokia today unveiled a USD 99 (about Rs 5,350) touch screen mobile with internet capability on its popular Asha series as it looks to regain lost ground after having fallen behind in the global smartphone race.   The Asha 501, which will be built in India, will roll out to 90 countries by June and will cost USD 99 excluding taxes. The phone will use a new software that allows users to multitask between built in applications for popular social media sites.


Samsung Eyes Up To 10 Percent Revenue From Enterprise Biz in 2013

Korean handset maker samsung today said it is targeting to garner up to 10 per cent of revenues from enterprise business this year.   "In terms of enterprise business, we are targeting to achieve approximately 5-10 per cent by the end of this year of overall Samsung India revenues," Samsung Director (Enterprise Business) Akash Saxenaa told PTI.   The company will be focussing on education and insurance sectors in order to meet the target.  


Samsung To Launch 'Best-Buy' Centers Across US To Take On Apple

In yet another move to take on its rival Apple, South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced a partnership with American multinational consumer electronics corporation Best Buy.   The maker of the Galaxy line of phones and tablets has asked Best Buy to erect over 1,400 Samsung Experience Shops within Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores across the U.S, most of which will likely be within sight of Best Buy's dedicated Apple counters.

Pictures of Samsung's Latest Galaxy Smartphone S4 - Expected to be released in New York this week, have been leaked online, a report has said.   A series of images published on a Chinese forum for Samsung fans showed a smartphone that users claim is the new Galaxy S4.   The handset appears slightly larger than the S3, the Telegraph reports.
