Nokia Lumia 520 Vs Sony Xperia E: Review - Rediff Technology

It’s very much justified to get confused between Android and Windows 8 as both are good and are capable of delivering good performance required from a Smartphone in everyday life.


But regarding the present scenario of market it can be said that Android is much better regarding the vividness and range of applications but Windows 8 is also catching up.


Comparing some of the major features-


Operating system-

Both OS has their own USP. Android Jelly Bean is best in Android and Windows 8 is also really good, easy to use and amazing interface. It’s up to your preference which platform you prefer. Both these OS are quite adaptable to use.



Both phones are equipped with 1 GHz processor. But Lumia 520 is equipped with DUAL CORE and Sony Xperia E with a single core. So, straight up Lumia is much faster than Xperia E and providing that Windows 8 application will always run smoothly since it’s a Closed System OS.


DUAL CORE means 2 x 1 GHz processor.


Screen and resolution-

Lumia’s bigger and brighter screens make it a winner in this aspect. Lumia’s 4 inch screen is bigger than 3.5 inch Xperia’s E screen. Not only screen but resolution of Lumia is 800x 480 p compared to Xperia E’s 320x 480 p.

Lumia delivers amazing 16 million colors compared to 262k colors of Xperia E.

Under sunlight Lumia’s screen does a better job than Xperia E. So Nokia Lumia 520 does better in terms of screen clarity, visibility and resolution.


Storage (memory)-

Lumia comes with 8 GB inbuilt memory which just double compared to Xperia E 4 GB.

However you could expand the memory of both the phone which is 64 GB for Lumia 520 and 32 GB for Xperia E.



Nokia Lumia has 5 Mp camera compared to 3.2 Mp of Xperia E. Both cameras have a good picture, but the image quality of Lumia is much better under low light and under sunlight.


Touch sensitivity-

Both phones come with a capacitive multi touch but Nokia Lumia 520 has ultra touch senility which can work even with a glove on  our work with nail tip. Thus, having an upper edge over Sony Xperia E.


Battery backup-

This is important for a Smartphone to have a good battery life. Both phones come with a LI - Ion battery. Nokia Lumia has a very long talk time of 15 hours compared to Sony Xperia E 6.5 hrs. This Lumia is the clear winner over here.

Considering these two phones we recommend Nokia Lumia 520 over Sony Xperia E, because at this price Lumia 520 is a nice windows phone. You have better options in Android than Sony Xperia E for the same price. Following are some major criterion on which comparison is made between the two phones.
